This paper analyses, by using singular value decompositon (SVD), the quantitative properties of the system structure and the numerical problems that are encountered when the structure parameters
and realization are calculated on digital computers. The relation between the quantitative properties and the numerical stability is discussed. Several typical minimal realizations by SVD of the HANKEL matrix are proposed, and a numerical reliable algorithm for the calculation of the system structure parameters directly from the HANKEL matrix is presented. |
