Abstract: |
It is our great pleasure to organize this special issue in Control Theory and Technology in honor of the 90th birthday of Professor Huashu Qin. She is one of the pioneers in control theory and applications in China, and has made many truly outstanding contributions to the field including nonlinear dynamics and control, intelligent control, robotics and complex systems. It is no surprise that she was selected as a representative introduced significantly in “Women in Control” of IEEE Control Systems Magazine.
Professor Huashu Qin was graduated from the Department of Mathematics in Nankai University, Tianjin, China, in 1956. Because of her outstanding record, she was selected to go abroad for Ph.D. degree. Then she obtained her Ph.D. in Mathematics from Jagiellonski University in Cracow, Poland in 1961. Then, she became a staff in the Institute of Mathematics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) from 1961 to 1979 and worked in the field of control theory and applications including guidance and control of missile, guidance and attitude control of satellite, temperature control in process of making steel, from 1963 to 1979. After 1979, she has been with the Institute of Systems Science, CAS, with holding some important positions. She was interested in bifurcation phenomenon in nonlinear control systems and in stabilization and tracking control of rigid robot arm in the 1980s. From early 1990s, her research rangewas extended to control of complex systems, stabilization for nonlinear control systems and applications to power systems. Although she retired many years ago, she still keeps working and actively attends seminars or group meetings with high research interest in new research advances of multi-agent systems and nonlinear control.
For the 90th birthday of Professor Huashu Qin, we organize two special issues, in both Control Theory and Technology and Control Theory & Applications (Chinese version) for English and Chinese papers. This English special issue contains 12 papers with theoretical analysis or design for practical problems, from her former students, collaborators, and friends. The topics cover distributed internal model, dynamic aggregation problem, multi-agent motion planning, multi-UAV cooperation, distributed order estimation, online distributed optimization, distributed algorithm for variational inequalities, safe formation control, integral ISS with small delays, stabilization with imperfect sensor, LQ mean field social control, and control of oxygen masks.... |
